I don't know if Jess found this survey somewhere or came up with her own questions, but either way, I'm stealing it. Yoink!

How do you like your eggs?
I always order them soft poached at a restaurant and then judge that particular establishment based on their ability to deliver actual soft-poached eggs. The very best ones I've had were at French Meadow. Poached eggs should be eaten with crispy hashbrown or -- in a pinch -- a nice piece of toast.

How do you take your coffee/tea?
Tea should be PG Tips or Yorkshire Gold with a splash of milk and a little sugar. Coffee is milk or half-and-half, no sugar at all (blech). Both should be plenty hot, although I've been making a lot of iced coffee for myself recently.

Favorite breakfast food?
At home, I eat Kashi GoLean pretty much every day. I go through cycles, though -- sometimes I've had oatmeal every morning, other times toast for months. At a restaurant, I usually order the previously mentioned poached eggs and hashbrowns, sometimes with toast or pancakes (if I'm feeling particularly decadent).

Peanut butter: Smooth or crunchy?
Smooth! Crunchy peanut butter doesn't spread, and it is a waste of my time.

What kind of dressing on your salad?
I don't think I have a favorite, but I always order it on the side, and I use it sparingly at home. I don't get the point of taking nice, fresh ingredients and covering up their flavor with a ton of dressing.

Coke or Pepsi?
Coke, although I'll admit I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I prefer a lemon-lime type soft drink.

You're feeling lazy, what do you make?
Maybe a veggie burger and broccoli or... a salad... or peanut butter toast. It's more about not using my creative muscles than it is about effort/time (except for toast, which is definitely about eating in a rush).

You're feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order?
Now that I've thought about it, I've realized that I've never ordered a pizza to be delivered to my house. Sometimes I make a frozen cheese pizza and add onion, green pepper, black olives, and mushrooms. Those are my veggie pizza basics. I don't really care if it has cheese, in fact, but it must have a decent amount of sauce.

You feel like cooking. What do you make?
Tofu... anything. BBQ... anything. Basically, I feel like I've 'really' cooked if I make something that requires remembering to prep ingredients beforehand.

Do any foods bring back good memories?
A lot of junky food reminds me of fun times from my childhood. Doritos and Fruit Roll-Ups make me think of eating outdoors as a kid, and Easy Cheese reminds me of 'girl weekends' with my relatives. When I was really ill in Scotland, I ate ready-salted crisps and drank lemon-lime soda, so those have restorative properties, in my mind. Vegetable soup and corn chips are the same (from a different time, though).

Do any foods bring back bad memories?
I remember trying to gag down green peas at a friend's house once... I think I was probably ten-ish. And, although I like it, the thought of blueberry yogurt still makes me cringe, although only Rob (and a few select others) will know why.

Is there a food you refuse to eat?
Besides non-vegetarian items, not really. I'm not crazy about anise flavor, so I wouldn't voluntarily eat black licorice or fennel-y type stuff, but I wouldn't refuse to. Especially if there were money involved.

What was your favorite food as a child?
Ramen, maybe. Or those little cardboard boats with frozen mashed potato in them. I was way more into salty (junk) food than sweet stuff.

Is there a food that you hated as a child but now like?
Um, everything that's not a carb or cheese. I've talked before about how picky I was as a kid, and now I'm very un-picky, so the list for this one is too long to bother with.

Favorite junk food?
Well, I suppose donuts fall into the category of high-calorie and low-nutrient, which is basically what junk food is, right? Mmm, donuts.

Do you have any weird food habits?
No, none at all. As long as I'm allowed to have all my favorite things and eat when I want to and don't have to worry about anybody else stealing my food.

Favorite dessert?
Ice cream!

I'm jumping on the accent-vlog-meme bandwagon. Here is the list of words:

Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

And here are the questions:

-- What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
-- What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
-- What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
-- What do you call gym shoes?
-- What do you say to address a group of people?
-- What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
-- What do you call your grandparents?
-- What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
-- What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
-- What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

Myriad topics to cover today:

-- I was feeling so proud of myself for clearing off the window sill (of tomatoes) to make sauce today. It's a lot of pressure, knowing there are tomatoes that will go bad if I don't do something with them in a limited amount of time. So, well done, me. Dusted the old hands off and thought I'd take a stroll around the garden, thumbs hooked in my imaginary suspenders/braces. Then I started picking tomatoes and came inside with over ten pounds of 'em. Whoops.

-- I made Susan's Seitan and Eggplant Stew yesterday, and I can heartily recommend it. I halved the recipe and soaked my split peas for quite a few hours before I even began cooking. I think my only changes were to omit the chili peppers (used red pepper flakes instead, just a dash) and the pomegranate molasses (no substitution) because I had neither. I also cut way back on the cloves, because I find that that flavour often overpowers everything else. It's a delicious dish, and I LOVE the seitan cooked in with everything. I'm thinking I'll have to try a 'beef' stew using that method!

-- My mom gifted a Cat-A-Wheel to my pet cats. Beany loves it. She's just this second gone over to curl up in it again, actually. Booty doesn't trust it at all, however; he prefers to sleep in the cat carrier, of all things. Sadly, neither the cat carrier nor the Cat-A-Wheel blend seamlessly with the rest of my decor. Imagine.

-- My friend Mo did a desktop meme, which began its life as a 'show your computer desktop' thing, but which she expanded to include her literal desktop as well. So this is my MacBook desktop (the photo was taken a couple of years ago in Minneapolis, right after an impressive summer storm had passed). Not very interesting, eh? And this is my actual desk, with the iMac. My screen saver just cycles through a folder of my photos, so that's what's on the screen. The book on my desk is Thomas Emson's Maneater (go buy it now!), which I needed on hand the week before last, when I was typesetting its sequel.

-- I spent ages picking grapes off their stems yesterday (grapes taken from my parents' yard) and turned them into juice. Today, I made jelly, except I did it all wrong. There were too many words in the instructions, words that I couldn't be bothered to process, so I missed the fact that I was supposed to measure the juice into a BOWL and the sugar+pectin+water into the SAUCEPAN, so it all wound up in the saucepan. I think it'll actually set up... mostly... but definitely not as well as last year. Live and yet still fail to learn.
