Day 11 — I discovered

Day 11 -- I discovered that... it's okay to let the girls guide their own learning. I really came around to the concept of "unschooling", which I think sounds, to a lot of people, like watching TV all day, but it just means finding the lessons all around us and building up some trust in the child's drive to learn. I've long wanted to homeschool, but even in the past twelve months, I've gone back and forth on what that might look like, and I'm sure I will for a long time. At least in these early years, the learning just happens on its own when the brain is ready. M is a kid who resists strongly until she's able to pick up a new skill with seemingly little effort. When she's ready, she's ready. I really want to keep fostering her love of learning, and I hope F's will be just as strong. (The photo is a big ship that looks tiny, even taken through the lens of a pair of binoculars.)
