Play Mat

I keep thinking I’ll try to get in a post about something not related to babies, but what are the odds of that happening, really? It’s the middle of winter, so it’s not like I’d be getting out and about much even if M weren’t so little. It’s nice to have M taking a few naps in her swing these days, though. I might get a chance to work on some projects once I’m feeling a bit better — like making a new cushion for the swing!

My mom has been here since yesterday afternoon, helping out with M, which makes a huge difference. I’ve been able to relax a little during the day, and she even took care of M overnight. That would have been amazing, except that I still woke up half a dozen times, feeling feverish. At least I didn’t also have to wake up when M did! M still seems to be uninfected, thank goodness. She took a nice long nap in bed this morning (an hour and forty minutes! — that first nap is always the best one) and has been busy on her new play mat today. I bought her this one, by the same company that made her mobile (Tiny Love). There are so many to choose from, but I thought it was cute than the pad of this one is a little pond — I can imagine M using it in her make-believe play when she gets older. It’s already a hit!

I don’t know what I’d do without Owen’s play mat. In fact, I have to admit, he likes his so much, I bought him a second one to have some variety. He will play down there for 20-30 minutes…enough for me to write a blog post or have some lunch. Plus, I feel like his best learning happens down there.

I am positively dreading getting the flu…and yet–i still didn’t get a flu shot. Considering how thankful i am about vaccines and how i know i’ll get my kids vaccinated, i’m not sure what my hang-up is getting my own little self vaccinated. Hope it clears up for you soon. Glad she’s showing it who’s boss with your flu-fighting awesomeness (maybe that’s it, maybe you gave all the good flu-fighters to her).

Just thought i’d drop a line and say how inspiring it is following you through this. I’ve still got my sights on finding the guy and then the baby, but it’s crossed my mind more than a few times over the years – and the freedom to choose your own terms (and then the kid will up and toss those terms around and create lovely havoc, but what else are expectations for?). . .

And i just wanted to say that i love the idea of doing different fabrics for the back of a quilt. That was ages ago, but it’s stuck with me. i may even use it for my next quilt (quilt #2)…just as soon as i get the courage to actually start it….
