Thirty-two weeks! Only eight weeks left, give or take. I’m looking forward to September 1st, when I’ll be able to say, ‘I’m having a baby next month!’ I would say that, all things considered, I’m feeling pretty good. Late July (twenty-eight-ish weeks) was definitely the most uncomfortable time for me (so far!), which I think was due to a big growth spurt. I still feel like I have a decent level of energy, and I can get stuff done as long as I rest my back quite often.
Baby’s Size: She should be right around four pounds now and maybe 17″ long. I would guess that she’s actually longer than that (just because I expect her to be a long-ish newborn — we’ll see).
My Size: Once again, I gained three pounds over the last two weeks. Reliable! That brings me to a total gain of twenty-three pounds. If I keep gaining at this rate, I’ll end at exactly thirty-five pounds up from the start, which is considered healthy. I know some people gain a lot towards the end, thanks to water retention (no sign of that yet), but I’ve also heard that some women slowed or stopped their gain in the last few weeks. Maybe I’ve got pregnancy body dysmorphia (in a good way), but I feel like I look pretty normal aside from my torso. It’s not like I had a super tight bod before pregnancy, so I’m not saying I’m lean or toned or anything, but I haven’t ‘gained all over’ like I thought I might.
Movement: If there’s anything I worry about more than I need to, it’s Baby M’s position. I wish I could better feel where her back and head are. Due to her movements (mostly on the right side), I’m assuming she’s still head-down with her spine to my left most of the time. But occasionally I feel activity on the left, and I can’t figure out how she got a limb over there! As long as I feel a foot up high and to the middle-right, I usually assume she’s still where she should be. I’ve been reassured that, since she’s been head-down for a while now (meaning she must like that position), she’s unlikely to flip around as space gets even tighter.
Complaints: Nothing, really! I was getting a lot of pain and sore muscles at night, but that seems to have resolved itself. I wonder if my belly is big enough to rest on the bed now (well, with a pillow wedged in), whereas maybe it was twisting my torso a bit before.
Looking Forward: Another midwife’s appointment on Friday, but there’s not too much other than that, pregnancy- and baby-wise.
