We went for another walk this morning out on the path. I’m glad it’s been a little warmer lately, but I wouldn’t mind some sunshine, too. The sun came out for about a minute, and then this was as bright as it got — and it’s much darker now. At least rain is good for the recently planted veggies (and my new apple trees!), but I think they’re going to want sun, too, at some point.
I think it’s funny that Nova will refuse to go outside when it’s raining, yet she’ll happily get drenched to the bone by walking through wet grass. She goes right up to the edge of the pond(s), but I think it would have to be really hot out for her to show any interest in swimming — I’d like to see a tiny dog paddling around! Both dogs were really well behaved today; Henny usually falls behind, since she likes to sniff flowers and silly things like that, but she cottoned on to the fact that I carry treats with me now!
I got some video of Nova’s excellent pronking through the tall grass. This was down by the pasture (smaller) pond, which she likes to inspect, but everything grows pretty high without any hoofed animals to help out. Henny sensibly waits for us by the fence, on the dirt path.
I wish this little shack were in better condition. It was used as a chicken coop and wasn’t (it seems) cleaned out at any point. I’m also not convinced that it wouldn’t fall down if I went inside. It’s far enough away from the house that I wouldn’t want to use it as a coop, even if it were in decent condition, but it seems a shame for it to just sit there. Maybe Rob can get a hazmat suit one day and go in with the power washer.
And one last photo, this time of the rhubarb and little flowers (pansies and marigolds) that I planted the other day. I want to replace those bricks with pieces of a couple of big branches that blew down over the winter, but they need to be cut up first. It’s nice to have some color in the garden, though!
