Before I threw away 2011′s gingerbread house, I let Henny at it, and I decided it would be an even better tradition with two dogs this year. The other Christmas stuff has been packed away for a while, but the gingerbread house was still on the kitchen island. Well, not any longer!

I had to lead with the Henny photo, because she’s so into destroying the house in that shot, but Nova actually took the first crack at it. She was much gentler, trying to lick off all the dried icing. She would have been happy to share the house, but Henny was nervous, so I told Nova that it was for Henny (luckily, ‘this is for Henny’ is one of the few commands she understands and obeys), and Henny got her turn. Then I told Nova she could join in again, and by that point Henny was hell-bent on getting as much gingerbread into her stomach as possible (which wasn’t very much at all — I’m so strict and mean and won’t let them eat an entire gingerbread house, can you even believe it?). I grabbed a little video of the last stages, here.

Meanwhile, Beany was growing upset that I was sitting on the floor while the dogs got all the attention. She tried showing off by walking along the backs of the dining room chairs (impressive to somebody who hasn’t seen that trick before, but she’s going to have to up the ante if she wants to wow me), and eventually she resorted to rolling around on the carpet, belly up. I guess that worked.

there seems to be one really good licking spot on that gingerbread house or maybe all the attention paid to the one spot softened it up for easier chewing!!I was a beauty the house was,
Yeah, I think Nova softened it up with her licking, which made it easy nomming for Henny.
