New Year’s Eve

I was just saying to Rob that I think I need a ‘blogging plinth’ on which to take photos of food for the blog. All the regular surfaces (counters, table) are in poor light, so I wind up putting my plate on a stool in front of the glass doors (which go out to the deck). Usually I put a placemat down first; the red tones of the stool make it really tricky to get the photo looking balanced (like in today’s). I guess good kitchen light might be one area where the Minneapolis house beats Hinckley.

Today has been day one of the clean eating mealplan. Looks basically like something I’d eat anyway, right? Maybe I’ll do a complete set of photos for every meal one of these days, for fun.

I like my little family room corner. I moved the futon over here a little while ago, because the view (out the patio doors) is nicer, and I can have the fake fireplace (which is a real space heater) closer. The white shape behind the futon is a lampshade. It’s a great place to work or read when I don’t want to be upstairs, in the living room.

No ‘Best of 2012′ lists for me today. It’s been another good year — not without its troubles, but pretty decent, on the whole. Obviously, getting the Hinckley house and working on it has been the highlight. I asked Rob if he would stay up until midnight tonight, and it took him a minute to realize why I was even asking. So New Year’s Eve is clearly not a Big Deal around here. See you in 2013!

Love your art collection. Can you tell me more about that geometric/pyramid wall hanging you have? It’s awesome, I don’t think I’ve seen something quite like that before.
