Mornings No. 11 + 12

I went to my aunt and uncle’s cabin for the 4th of July. It’s one of my favorite events of the summer — sitting around with family members, laughing and playing in the lake. This photo is from the morning of the 4th, before everybody else woke up. The cabin is on the right (obviously), and you can see my tent to the left. (I shot it from the stairs that lead down to the dock.)

I took this when I woke up this morning (well, the first time I woke up — at 5:00 — and then I went back to sleep for a while). I don’t get the chance to go camping very often, since I don’t feel safe camping by myself. The 4th of July weekend is one of the few opportunities I have to sleep in a tent, and I actually slept really well this year. The weather was HOT + HUMID, but it cooled down to just the right temperature at night. I didn’t put the rain fly on this year (so that it wouldn’t get stuffy); there was a 40% chance of rain last night, but — luckily — no rain fell on me.
