Works in Progress

I realized just a little while ago that I haven’t posted about craft in an awful long time. Of course, this is because I haven’t been doing much crafting with all the moving going on, but I have been working on this:

A stripy crochet blanket — everybody’s making them, you know. I’m making mine with Debbie Bliss Merino DK and Cashmerino DK (some colours are available in one, some in the other), and I’d say it’s slow going, but it’s just me being slow, really. I get bored after a couple of rows. I’m carrying the project around in one of the little baskets I got from the Pier 1 outlet shop near us — only $2.50!

I know I said I’d be back with photos of the bread and soup. The soup turned out very well indeed, but the bread was disappointing. It was dark by dinner time, and I’m reluctant to post the artificially-lit photo I took; I’ll try again when I reheat the leftovers tomorrow for lunch. For now, here’s a photo of the soup in progress!

Nice to see another stripey afghan. Mine’s about half done. I’ve estimated a total of 55,000 stitches. Yikes!

    Anna,
I’ve been a non-commenting reader for a while…I LOVE your blog. I bought the Crafter’s Companion last week and, working in publishing, I can definitely say it’s one of the best books I’ve seen in a really long time. I’ve already repurposed the knitting needle case as a paintbrush case for my mom, and I’m trying to slowly savor the book while I work my way through it.
Btw, your blanket looks like it’s going to be great…I’ve found that knitting/crocheting in front of the TV is the best way to do it – and you even get to watch all the awesome American TV that I miss SO much – suddenly you’ve done 5 rows without thinking about it and you didn’t really waste any time watching tv.
Ugh…sorry this is such an epic comment…next time I’ll email you :)

The blanket looks ace, those colours are great. I also like putting my knitting in a basket – much more attractive!

I also love your blanket! I have seen a few here and there on line and I want to make one too. You will probably need it done soon in prep for those lovely MN winters. Great find, by the way, on the pier one basket…and such a great deal! Doesn’t that make you like it even more?

    Hi Anna,
I ran across your blog through Eireann’s (bara) website, and although I have just scanned a few posts I already love your website.
Welcome to Minneapolis. I live here too.
Let me know if you have any questions about where to go for crafting supplies, etc.
    Martha
