Indian Summer

Aw, I’ve run out of Lost episodes. I have to wait now until Hulu sees fit to update with the second half of the fifth series. I guess I’ll have to fill my time with actual activities now…
I took the photo above at my friend Andy’s birthday party, which was held at the West Bank Social Center in Minneapolis. I’d never been there before, but it seems like there’s an endless supply of surprisingly cool locations in the Twin Cities. I don’t usually dig night-time photography, but the lighting was so great in this place. In addition to a couple of random shots, I also took a few really nice (if I do say so myself) photos of my friend Alex, which I’m withholding them for privacy reasons. But it was unexpected: enjoying both artificial light AND portraits — perhaps I’m growing as a person. Or at least as a photographer.
We had the best Indian Summer you could ask for this weekend. I took a walk around St Paul and did yard work and generally didn’t freeze or feel the need to complain when I was out after dark. Another month of that, pleasethankyou. Of course, I’ll take even just a couple more days, which I think we’ll get!

I’m super jealous about the Indian Summer! If you ever need to share the heat, go ahead! :)

WOW… that photo looks like a scene from a movie or a TV show. I love the lighting and feel of the photo. :*)

  3. The West Bank Social Center was radical! I want to have a slumber party there. Or maybe a line dancing class. Or X-Files marathon screening. It’s a space with infinite options … and lots of electrical outlets.
Sorry for being an anti-photos-of-me-on-the-Internet Luddite. They were, as you said, “really nice.” :)

The lighting is gorgeous and so is this photo. Congratulations!
