Fingernails

I don’t really have anything to say, but my immediate Life Options at the moment are A) doing the dishes B) watching another episode of News Radio on Hulu or C) posting here. I’m not so hot on the first one, and the second one requires me to move across the room, so option three it is!
On a whim, I painted my fingernails dark blue the other day. (Granted, it was a whim that saw me add an item to my shopping list, go to the store, make a purchase, and then engage in whim-related activity — I was right on the border between being ‘on a whim’ and ‘having a notion’, I think.) I can’t even remember when I last painted my fingernails, but it seems much easier than it was when I was, say, eleven. Nail polish technology has advanced, clearly.
it felt very odd for the first day or so — like having somebody else’s hands at the ends of my arms. But I got used to it and started to really like it, especially when I was at Cheapo, perusing the punk rock section (for The Jam). Nobody has to know that I’m a homebody, because my fingernails look awesome.
But now they’re starting to chip, and I realize I’m not sure what you’re supposed to do at this point. Touch it up? Take it all off? I can’t see letting it continue to chip away and going out in public like that (see? I’m not really punk rock at all!). I just don’t know. Man, it’s hard being a ‘lady’.
