Weekend Odds and Ends

– I woke up very early this morning. I’ve been reading, doing laundry, cleaning the catbox, etc, etc. When I took the garbage out, I thought to myself how warm it was. I’m pretty sure it hadn’t even hit 20F at that point.
– I ran to the supermarket around 7:30. Again, I woke up early, so I was already bored by 7:30, and what’s better than buying pears and carrots when there’s hardly anybody else in the store? By the front flower display, they had potted primroses — five for ten bucks. I bought three, as you can see in the photo above. I love their cheap, tacky plastic pots, and they’ve officially taken the place previously occupied by the gingerbread house. That means it’s pretty much spring — I mean, it is almost 20F, remember?
– I bought a new scrubby sponge at the supermarket. Is it just me, or is it creepy how they’re moist when you open the package? I can understand the reasoning behind it (appearances), but it can’t be water — so what IS it? Huh? Creepy.
– I’ve forgotten all the other things I was going to tell you. It’s a shame — I’m pretty sure they were actually interesting points. Just kidding.

It is water, it’s so they don’t dry out and lose their elasticity before you use them (I didn’t know that until you asked, but wondered as well because they feel so weird so I looked it up). Have you ever used the sponges that are little dried up oblongs and then you wet them and they poof up?

Oh – having real flowers in the house makes such a difference. Its an ultimate mood booster for me.

Wonderful photo. Primroses are super. A sign that Spring is just around the corner.

Don’t even THINK about the scrubby “juice” — it’s too gross to even contemplate.
Love your primroses! Flowers make everyone’s day!

Totally agree with the sponge juice…weird

You don’t even know what I’d give to just wake up at 9am. My sleeping schedule is all messed up due to my being a student and my boyfriend’s job. I go to bed anywhere between 2-4am, and I wake up sometime between 11am-1pm, depending on the day. Even on weekends, and it’s the worst feeling knowing you wasted half the day, but not until this summer can I really change the schedule!

I’ve been reading your blog for a while but am just getting around to saying hi – so hi! I love the crafty/kitty/food topics and your layout is very cheery.
I went to buy a sponge from the supermarket a couple of months ago but every single sponge there was treated with anti-microbials. Really, I don’t need to buy a sponge that is treated with chemicals. It’s okay. We’ve somehow survived years and years without these chemicals.
I hope it was only water in your sponge!
