My favourite part of the new design? I no longer have to think of titles for posts! Thanks goodness. As far as I can tell, the only glitch is that Firefox viewers will see a couple of pixels of padding between images and their borders (correct), while IE folks will not. Of course, my own opinion is that the glitch lies in the use of IE, so I'm not worrying about it.
Anyway, onward! Let me tell you about my new stick-shaped diet.

That would be a good gimmick, no? If all your food is stick-shaped, your body will follow. Actually, I've just been meaning to try tofu 'fish' sticks for a while. I more or less followed the recipe, and I wouldn't say they were at all fishy, but they were still good. Surprisingly, I'd never tried the breaded-and-baked tofu thing before, so I'll definitely do that again, but with my own combination of spices.
Another stick food:

I got Heidi Swanson's Supernatural Cooking for my birthday, and I had been meaning to try her power bars (although I do not care for that term -- 'power' bars), but I actually wound up making something much more like this version of her recipe rather than the one in the book. Very good!
In other news, I painted the front bedroom/old office/thing space today, and I shall be painting it again tomorrow (if I can muster up the will). It was sort of an unnecessary project in the first place, but I wanted the painted walls to be brighter, so I found a lighter shade of grey. I used a gift card (to a big box DIY store) to buy the gallon of paint and was feeling quite pleased at doing the project on the cheap.
Of COURSE it wasn't until I had completely finished the job that I realized I despise the colour. It's not at all as warm as the grey in the living room; in fact, it's life draining and generic. It's the CCCCCC of the paint world. Tomorrow I will go to Sherwin Williams and do it properly (pick one shade lighter from the same colour card as the living room).
The hateful colour is 'Dolphin Fin' by Behr (my apologies for insulting your paint choice, should you have this somewhere in your home). I should have known better. I loathe dolphins and their patronizing party tricks.
Patronizing party tricks :D

And yeah, dolphins are bastards.

Hello gorgeous!
I know why the spam bots came, it was the line " the b o d y of an 18 y e a r old" Sorry - did weird spacing so they don't pick up on it again.
I once wrote a post where I used the words n u d e and g i r l (unrelated) and suddenly spam started to appear and I had to put word verification on (though I took it off last year and have had no probs since).
I laughed at the gag about getting the cat to stand on the dog's back, I have had the same trouble for many years. On the incredibly rare occasions I succeed I never get a shot of it because the second I move the cat bolts.
My 1st cat was the best one, he would go like a rag doll when he was asleep and you could drape him almost anywhere, but I couldn't afford camera film in those days. Not that I treat my animals like toys! No, not I , I never put my dog in rollerskates and a bandana when I was 14...or did I?
Loving your stick foods, they look yummy, and I regularly need reminders about tofu. Now that I'm not well enough to get to the organic farm shop I have to depend on Mr P to get the food in, and tofu has gradually slipped off the regular purchase list cause he's not veggie. I will get on his case.
Both your pot luck foods look really yummy, I must try making the sweet potato hash. Last summer (the summer that never had sun) we tried to fake summery feeling by add BBQ sauce to 50% of our foods. Rather nice actually, in many unexpected ways...you'd never think BBQ sauce and mango could blend so well, but they do (mango needs to be very ripe).
Sorry I've commenting lately, I'm finding it harder to read so much just now but when the sun shone today I knew it was a sign to visit some old blog friends and leave some words.
Hope your head cold has cleared and wish for us both to see spring as soon as possible! xxx

oops, i forgot to say i like the new design. so great that it went without a hitch. i have several other blogs that i have never posted because i have had so many problems trying to get them just right, especially my 'links' blog (because i have WAY too many to put on my links sidebar).
Oh, and that also reminds me that I love the sound of your garden blog and think it'd be lovely to see. maybe you'd consider opening it for public view for one day, you know, like a Garden's Open Day in the UK. Or having it open only to invited visitors at the end of the year (invite me, invite me!). oxo

and i'm sure there is a dolphin somewhere, with a freshly painted room and loathing it as well. 'people's arm' isn't a good color for walls either i bet
