Housewarming

Whew. This past Saturday was my housewarming. If you ever want a ridiculous amount of pressure to get your new house in order in only a month, scheduling a housewarming will do it. But as Rob pointed out, everybody seemed to say that they liked the house, so it must have been worth it. There were certainly a lot of cakes:

I made cupcakes and macaroons and a flourless chocolate cake, and my mom was going to make a cheesecake and biscotti, but when she showed up, she’d also make a couple of pound cakes, mini cheesecakes, cookies, and brought plenty of sweets as well. So there are a lot of leftovers.

It was fun to show people around the house, and especially exciting to see some folks I haven’t seen in ages. If you’re wondering why I might be a bit quiet this coming week, it’s because Rob is in town for a visit, so we’ll be off having fun, trying not to freeze.

…you had a very nice party.
The request I made to you re a book for a silent auction. It is NOT for any thing political! It is for a community theatre event. I just thought, if it worked out, it would be good PR. The Red Baloon lady is involved…love, grama

i know what you’re saying about getting the house in order before the guests arrive, but it doesn’t seem like you’ve been procrastinating and needed a deadline to spur you on. ;)
    have fun with rob!

    Yummy yummy fill my tummy!
Looks gorgeous and I bet it smelled and tasted gorgeous too. How I wish I’d been there, I could even have eaten allergy free with the flourless choc cake, cool.
And hey, all those leftovers, you and Rob (i know he likes the sweet stuff) can justify munching through them by saying that you are fuelling your bodies against the winter chill. Any excuse I say.
I’m guessing when Rob leaves, and hte cakes are finished, you’ll suddenly have a huge feeling of homliness as you’ve done the work and can enjoy just being, just baking. Though I know you, you’ll still have lots more plans and they’ll all be beautiful.

  12. Amy says:

Look what you did –– you’ve got me craving some serious sugar-loaded goodies. :) Congrats on your new move!
