13 August 2006
Oh dear, can you believe August is nearly half over? It's very worrying. On the upside, the craft book has gone to print! It won't be out until October, so I'll give more details then. On with today's (er, yesterday's) 12 of 12.

5:55 on a Saturday morning. And I've already been up for about ten minutes! During the week, I set my alarm for 6:00, except the clock is twenty minutes fast (I can't explain it. . . ). So I wake up at 5:40 -- if I sleep until the alarm sounds, which I usually don't. Early riser? Yeah. . .

Ira visits the Great Seed Jar. He likes exiting and entering through this little side door better than the front, I think. He can hop straight onto something and get back easily, without any flying.

Making plans. Now that the Crafter's Companion is out of my hands, I can start thinking about my own project. The list of projects keeps changing, mainly because I keep losing the little scraps of paper I write it down on. Notebook time. More about book plans in another post.

Delicious ice cream -- except not. Rob thoughtfully bought me these Skinny Cow (I think?) mini pots of ice cream, but they're awful (not unlike the Skinny Cow fudge bars I tried a while ago). Also -- I'm not sure these are any lower in calories that regular ice cream (92 calories for an itty bitty pot -- must only be about 40g). I ate it with our tiniest teaspoon, as you do.

Productivity! I worked on a new bag (for the book-in-planning) off and on all day today. It's pretty easy, but I do get so bored with things.

The bag, further along, waiting for more handsewing of binding. This is my nest of clutter on the couch. Magazines, books, balls of wool, shiny things. . .

Modern cooking! Too lazy to print out the recipe and fetch it from upstairs, I simply unplug my laptop and plop it on the counter. Genius.

It looks questionable, I know, but it's a very tasty apple dumpling. This recipe is similar to what I use, except I use dark brown sugar instead of white, no nutmeg. . . and you should probably double her quantities for the dough (I make two servings, each with half a giant Bramley apple inside). I also ladle the syrup over the dumplings about every 5-10 minutes while they're cooking.

I cut my finger while I was coring and slicing the apple. If a piece of apple gets stuck, the best idea is NOT to use your hand to push up towards the slicing surface. It doesn' look like much here, but it really hurt!

Bag finished! It still needs something more, but it'll be purely decorative. (Shown with a bottle of water in, for some reason.)

Exactly 130 calories of Wheat Thins (direct from America). I've been counting calories for about two months now, and it really works (makes you lose weight, that is). Why a person would bother with any other system, I don't know. Simple maths.

Ah, Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. We weren't planning to watch the entire episode, but how can you turn away from Doctor Who?
And that was my day! Never once opened the front door. Hmm.
Cool day! So glad you did the project. Just saying hi.

Maitreya -- I'm REALLY nervous. I went through it so many times, and I just know I'll spot a hundred errors as soon as it's printed. Arg.
