I know I shouldn't be so excited by something as ordinary as organic fruit and veg, but look how pretty it is:

The box was delivered at 6:30 in the morning yesterday. Believe it or not, this is actually great timing, and I hope it continues to arrive at that time in the future -- it's after I've already showered and et breakfast, but before I go off to work. Excellent.

The potatoes and zucchini (courgettes) are smaller than you'd expect to find at the grocery store, but it was very satisfying to wash off the dirt and smell actual outdoors on my food. I grated two of the three zucchini for zucchini bread, which turned out well. And the fruit, well:

I've certainly never seen happier little plums, have you? Very nice.

I broke my no-baking rule yesterday and made that loaf of zucchini bread and also a loaf of whole-wheat banana bread (I like to buy fairtrade bananas, but they come in bunches that are bigger than I can eat, so half always get too ripe). I've been keeping track of what I eat, and I've decided it's much healthier to have a slice of one of these homemade breads than it is to pop out to the shop for chocolate or crisps in the middle of the day. And tastier!

The fruit looks delicious. I love zucchini and banana bread. I can't eat bananas fast enough before they turn too ripe, so I put them in a ziplock freezer bag and throw them in the freezer. Then I always have bananas on hand for making banana bread.

Yum - my box delivery day is Tuesday. I'm hoping I get some plums because your photo is making me dribble. Enjoy!

Where do you get your organic box from? I SO want to start doing this, but I'm having trouble finding places which deliver to my area (North Wiltshire)...

Cat -- The box is from Abel and Cole. If you go to their website, you can put in your postcode and see if they'll deliver to you. Good luck!

Looks tasty and the zucchini bread sounds like a Turkish recipe my ex's mother used to make (but which I never succeeded at). I remember it was tasted AMAZING.

Your foody posts are torturing me today. I need fruit or choc or something sweet but... today has also had some good things like a COLLAGE in the post!

Thank you so much it's wonderful and I can definitely see you becoming a collage person. I love that it contains personal touches from our trip and you know I LOVE the colours :0)

I am not forgetting I owe you £2 by the way, have been planning a little card to send it in with a pocket on it to put the £2 in but I must confess all my veg prep in the garden has overtaken all other things. Soon though, soon.

Oh my goodness, the plums look delicious. I think I have to wait a couple months for plums to be in season over here unless I want sour ones. Actually, sour plum might be good for some kind of crazy tart thing. With cream. Maybe I should look into that, because now I really want plums. Mmm.

And because you mentioned it a while ago, I figure I should let you know that I got in to my masters program at Milwaukee. Huzzah! A plan!

Wow... I wish we had something like that in Houston. I always have leftover bananas as well, banana bread has become a staple at my house. And since I have started being aware of the food I put in my mouth, I figure this is a good solution because at least I know WHAT is in the bread.
